How to use Doors, end to end

A walk-through of the whole flow: sign-in, event creation, sharing your link, watching responses come in, and showing up with a real headcount. About three minutes end to end.

Step two

Create your event

From your dashboard, click Create event. It is one form in four parts, with a preview beside it that fills in as you type, so you can see the invitation your guests will get before anybody sees it.

The picture at the top
Every event gets a photograph, picked to match the kind of event you chose. If you would rather use your own, upload it and it replaces the stock one. Pick something wide, at least 1400 pixels across so it stays sharp: JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 2 MB. You can always go back.
What the event is
The event type (this one is required, and it chooses that photograph for you), an event title, a custom share link (doors.events/e/your-event), event details with simple formatting, and an optional flyer or invitation to upload (image, PDF, or Word).
When it happens
Doors open and close times, and a timezone. This is also where you say whether it repeats: every day, every week, every other week, or every month, for up to 12 dates. All the dates share one link. Guests pick which ones they are coming to, and you get a separate list for each.
Where it is
Where it is, plus an optional street address. Add one and your guests get a Get directions button automatically.
Guest details
An optional RSVP deadline and a cap on total guests. A private, read-only guest list for the birthday kid or the retiree, who can also be emailed each time someone RSVPs. Whether you count one total per party or split adults and kids. And your own questions: short or long answer, number, email address, yes/no, multiple choice, or checkboxes, and you can mark any of them required.

Step three

If it repeats, one page runs every date

If your event happens once, skip to step four. Otherwise: Doors builds every date for you and gives you one page to run them all from. Open it from your dashboard with Manage.

Series Attendance
How many RSVPs across every date, how many guests that is in total, and how many different people. Somebody booked on four dates is four responses and one person, which is the number you want when you are ordering food for a room.
Series Actions
Five controls in one row, the same five the single event page carries: Add business branding, Go to the dates, Export CSV, then Cancel every upcoming date and Delete series after a divider. Go to the dates scrolls to the Dates list, where every date opens its own guest list. Export CSV gives you one file covering every date, with a date column at the front so you can tell the nights apart.
Series Sharing
One link and one QR code for the whole series, not one per date. The code opens the same link, which always shows the next date that has not happened yet, so a copy printed once and pinned to a noticeboard keeps working all year.
Each date, on its own terms
Edit any single date and each field says whether it is Same as the series or Changed for this date. A field you change stays changed: editing the series details later will not overwrite it. Reset to the series venue puts it back.
Ending it, or part of it
The last two controls in Series Actions, set apart by a divider. Cancel every upcoming date tells the guests who are booked, once. Delete series emails nobody and cannot be undone.

Share it anywhere

Doors gives you one shareable link (doors.events/e/spring-carnival) and a QR code that points at it. Send the link by text, email, group chat or classroom app; print the code on a flyer or put it up on a screen. Every guest, every channel, lands on the same RSVP page.

Watch RSVPs come in

Open your event and the numbers are there: how many people have RSVPd, how many are coming in total, and their answers to your questions. Refresh to see the latest. Export to CSV anytime for printing or sharing with the school office.

Doors sends automatic email reminders to everyone who RSVP'd : about three days before your event, and again shortly before it starts. Less ghosting, fewer no-shows, zero manual work for you.

Step seven

Show up with the real headcount

Day of the event, your dashboard has the final numbers. Export the CSV for the door volunteer, share it with the caterer, or just glance at the top-line count. The system of record that started three minutes into setting up is now the system of record that runs the day.

Once an event has finished, its card moves from your dashboard to Past events and carries a Leave feedback link that asks how it went. It is a rating out of five, a few words, and an optional tick box if you are happy for us to quote you. Leave it unticked and it stays private. Nothing is published from it until a person reads it and decides, and saying no is an answer we take.
