Doors vs SignUpGenius

SignUpGenius assigns slots.
Doors counts heads.

Two good tools for two different jobs. SignUpGenius is built around slots — a sign-up sheet where each person claims a place. Doors is built around the headcount — how many people are coming, and whether they got reminded. Here is the honest split, including where SignUpGenius is the better tool.

Where SignUpGenius is the better pick

If each guest needs to claim a specific thing, use SignUpGenius. That is what it is built for and it does it well: volunteer shifts, a rota that repeats each week, forty parents each taking one item, a room booked in half-hour blocks. Doors has no equivalent — it counts people, it does not assign them. Its free plan also puts no limit on how many sign ups you create, which for a group running something every month is a real advantage. Doors earns its keep when the question is how many are coming, rather than who has taken which slot.

01

Slots and headcounts are different problems

A slot sheet answers "is every place taken?" A headcount answers "how many chairs, how many plates, how much food?" Doors is built for the second: one RSVP can be a party of four, adults and kids counted separately, and the total updates as answers arrive.

02

What your guests see

SignUpGenius says ads may be visible to people signing up through a free account. Upgrading to a paid plan removes them. A Doors RSVP page carries no ads on any plan, including the free first event, and no third-party tracking.

03

Pay per event

SignUpGenius sells its paid plans as monthly or annual subscriptions. Doors charges per event, with an annual option if you run enough of them. If you run two events a year, you pay for two events.

PICK SIGNUPGENIUS WHEN

Every guest needs to claim a specific thing: a shift, an item, a time slot, a week of the rota.

PICK DOORS WHEN

You need to know how many people are coming, with party sizes and adults counted separately from kids, on a page with no ads.

Try Doors for your next event.

Your first event is free, no card required. After that, $9.99 per event or $49.99 a year for unlimited.
