Doors vs Evite
Evite designs.
Doors counts.
Evite is for themed party invites: birthdays, baby showers, the kind where the design feels like part of the gift. Doors is for the events where the headcount actually matters: food is being ordered, chairs are being set up, and a treasurer is waiting on a real number. Here's the honest split, including where Evite still wins.
Five things that actually differ
every cell says what that tool does · rows only where they differWhere Evite is the better pick
If the invitation is part of the celebration (a kid's birthday, a baby shower, a holiday party where a beautiful animated card sets the tone), Evite's design library is hard to beat, and free designs cost nothing to send. It is also a more capable planner than it gets credit for: a shareable link on every tier, a guest list you can export without paying, a capacity limit, and a reminder two days out by default. Doors earns its keep when the number has to be exact, the answers have to total, and you would rather not buy Premium to close RSVPs on a Thursday.
The invitation, or the number
Evite sells the invitation: thousands of templates, animated reveals, the moment the card opens. That is a real product and Doors does not compete with it: a Doors page is one plain layout with your details on it. What Doors sells is the number at the other end. If the card is part of the gift, Evite wins that outright. If nobody will remember the card but the caterer needs a figure on Thursday, the card was never the job.
Whose brand is on the invitation
Evite does not say free invitations carry ads, but it does sell the absence of them: "No ads!" is listed as a Premium feature, and ad removal is one of the upgrades that applies a Premium charge to a free design. Read plainly, that means an unpaid Evite is the one with ads on it, and the advertiser is whoever bought the placement. A Doors RSVP page runs no third-party ads on any plan, including the free first event. The one thing on it that is not yours is a single line of ours at the bottom saying Doors made the invitation, and it comes off on Unlimited.
A deadline that isn't an upgrade
Evite has both of the controls that matter here. You can set a capacity limit, and you can set an RSVP deadline. The deadline, by Evite's own documentation, "is part of Evite's Premium service." So the question is not whether the feature exists but what it costs to reach it: with Doors the deadline and the cap are simply there, on the same $9.99 event as everything else.
Questions that come back as columns
Evite's Poll puts a question on the invitation and collects the answer when a guest RSVPs, good for "chicken or fish". Doors lets you write any question you like, and every answer comes back as its own column in the export: plate count, dish to bring, child grade level, member or guest. That is the difference between knowing the mood of the room and being able to total a spreadsheet.
The invitation is part of the gift: a birthday or shower where a beautiful animated card sets the mood and "about 30" is a fine number.
You need an exact headcount, a list you can hand to the caterer or treasurer, and an invite you can send by text, post in a group chat, or print as a QR code.
Try Doors for your next event.
Your first event is free, no card required. After that, $9.99 per event or $49.99 a year for unlimited.
